About Sri Sumanatissa Dhamma School
It is an immense pleasure to say that our Sri Sumanatissa
Dhamma School has many achievements under her belt at provincial, district and
all island levels attracting the attention of many students and their ambitious
parents. Due to untiring commitment of all, 95% of our students sail through
the examination conducted by the Dept. of Buddhist Affairs. Our Dhamma School
takes pride of place due to seasoned staff members and has been prominent for
majority of them being clever monks in comparison to other Dhamma Schools in
the locality.
English Medium section which had a humble beginning in the
year of 2010 with two students, now has flourished into 50 students. The
hallmarks of our Dhamma School are Annual Sinhala New Year festival, Poson
Devotional Song Performance, Prize Giving Ceremonies which are helpful to
broaden the horizons of studious students. Experience and knowledge that
students acquire with active participation in our Dhamma School surely be once
in a life time chance.
It is a great deal of pleasure to witness the year by
year steady progress in Sri Sumanatissa Dhamma School being conducted at Asgiri
Maha Vihara Maha Pirivena premises at present, which was started in memory of
the great name of our late teacher, most venerable Vidya Visharada, Royal
Pandit Saliyale Sri Sumanatissabhidhana Anunayaka Maha thero of Asgiriya
chapter.
By dint of commitment of our ardent staff members, ambitious parents and all
studious students, acquired achievements and progress during the past eight
years, have given the driving force to the prime aim of making an endeavor to
bestow good, courteous citizens to the country.
A Dhamma School student is meant to be a creation with utmost commitment of a
particular volunteer group for the betterment, progress, promotion and
preservation of morality of a country. Although school is meant to impart a
wealth of universal knowledge to a students to broaden the horizons , Dhamma
school is predominantly committed to enrich his or her spiritual and ethical
departments.
Accordingly, Dhamma education is the moral emblem of the motherland which is
poised to take material success. Our sole intention is to see the proceedings
to be innovative to cater to the requirements of the modern world preserving
traditional values of Dhamma education. We are looking forward that the
impressive role played by patriots like Hon. Anagarika Dharmapala, G. P.
Malalasekara will be playing to some extent by our Sri Sumanatissa Dhamma
School students.
